Ethical Principles and Publication Policy

Tarih Tetkikleri Dergisi is an international, peer-reviewed academic journal with an open-access policy, aimed at enhancing scholarly knowledge in the field of history. The journal’s publisher and editors operate with a non-profit motive, ensuring the continuous development of the journal.

The journal adheres to the ethical responsibilities outlined in the “COPE Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.”

The primary identity of authors, from the journal’s perspective, is determined by whether they present an academic research study. At this point, completely objective criteria are considered.

In cases of misconduct found in submitted papers, the journal evaluates such reports confidentially. If instances such as duplicate publication or submission of the same work to multiple journals are discovered, the journal may retract the article, even if it has already been published. The journal follows the retraction guidelines found at https://publicationethics.org/sites/default/files/retraction-guidelines-cope.pdf. The journal also welcomes any reports of misconduct and ensures the confidentiality of the whistleblower’s identity, responding to all reports promptly.

To prevent conflicts of interest between reviewers and authors, the necessary precautions are taken. The journal protects the confidentiality of all stakeholders' data. During the article evaluation process, only the editor has access to the author's identity; reviewers and other third parties cannot access this information.

Submitted articles are considered the original work of the author(s).

In multi-author articles, all rights and responsibilities related to the work apply to and bind all authors.

Authors must confirm that the final version of their work uploaded to the system is the one to be published. Minor editorial revisions may occur during the editorial review.

The originality of the work is based on the authors’ declaration. If any issue is detected during the editorial review, the article will be returned to the author.

Author(s) must be certain before submitting their articles. Once an article is uploaded to the system and the process begins, it cannot be withdrawn.

Author(s) must declare that there is no conflict of interest in their work and disclose any financial support received.

In multi-author articles, the corresponding author who uploads the article to the system is responsible for informing the other authors about the process.

Legally, the author(s) accept full responsibility for any copyright infringement. In the case of claims or lawsuits from third parties, the publisher (Journal of Historical Studies) bears no responsibility, and all liability rests with the author(s).

The author(s) guarantee that their article contains no elements of crime or defamation. This guarantee also includes compliance with the law.

The author(s) declare that all universal scientific principles have been followed in preparing the work and that all referenced works have been properly cited. This aspect will be reviewed for ethical compliance, but the responsibility remains with the author.

Accepting the “Libre Open Access” policy, Journal of Historical Studies does not request any payment and operates as a fully open-access journal.

All works published in Journal of Historical Studies are provided free of charge to authors, readers, and institutions. Readers are allowed to share and distribute the content in any way for non-commercial purposes, provided that proper attribution is given to the article.

 

Tarih Tetkikleri Dergisi ensures that all articles undergo a double-blind peer review process and conducts thorough plagiarism checks. The journal follows the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) regarding authorship and contributor declarations. Additionally, if authors have used artificial intelligence tools in their paper, they are required to disclose this in the acknowledgment section or by marking it with an asterisk (*) in the title and noting it in the first footnote.
